At bedtime – after snuggles, Bible reading, prayers, kisses, hugs, drinks, more snuggles…

Me:  Goodnight, Claire.  I love you.

Claire:  I love you too, Mommy.

(I exit the room and walk down the hall)

Claire: (Yelling) I love you very much, Mommy!

Me: I love you too, Claire.

Claire:  Mommy!  (In tears)  Come back!

Mommy:  Yes?  What’s the problem, Claire?

Claire:  When someone talks to you, you have to look at them.  That’s what you do to be a good friend.  You didn’t look at me when I said I love you.

Seriously…this child is the queen of bedtime stalling.
